Everyday is a Memorial Day when we cherish and capture things from the past and choose to incorporate them into our lives in someway. Memorabilia, Vintage trinkets and antiques make our lives and the spaces we live in, more beautiful and graced by a time gone by, a life that used to be, and a piece of beauty that cannot be duplicated in today's world.
Memories in the form of Vintage decor, household items and old textiles add warmth, charm, character and romance to our modern lifestyles creating a sanctuary we can retreat to and revel in with our family and friends. As I write this and look around my home, I cannot imagine my world without the presence of the past......old, beautiful things that represent a life and use, that I can only imagine, repurpose and stage with. I sit here and think to myself that I would give up the newer "stuff" in my house in a heartbeat. Don't take away my old things, my shabby and chippy furniture, my old discolored and stained books with yellow and torn pages, my ironstone, my vintage and gorgeous textiles, or any of my vintage trinkets that make my home a home.......my Garden of Eden........my sanctuary.
With all that said, my warmest heartfelt thanks to all those who have served our country and been part of a past with loved ones, sacrifice, hard work, pain, laughter and yes, beauty. Happy Memorial Day.
