There's something to be said for the real thing!
We are surrounded by reproductions, knock offs, imitations, look-a-likes, wanna be's and so on. All the mainstream stores offer "the look" and "the trend of the hour" inexpensively and conveniently at our fingertips. With the latest trends, we also find ourselves believing the marketing strategies and advertisements that we are buying at least the "appearance" even if we cant afford the real deal. Admittedly, I've bought into it before (and at times, it has worked for me)! But there is something to be said for the real thing, and with that, comes an indescribable feeling of truth, authenticity and "all is well" in my world! Whether its material things, relationships, Jesus, God or love, nothing can take the place of the real thing! I would rather have a small genuine diamond, than a massive cz. I would rather have the quality, authenticity and character that accompany the real deal! I want the depth and sophistication that cannot be achieved by look-a-likes or wanna be's. When you say you want to be true to yourself, stay true, stay real and seek after the truth and the authentic
thing (s)....the real and meaningful stuff that lasts...........
Now to hone in on textiles and decor, dont get me wrong....not every item in my wardrobe or interior decor are the real or vintage thing, BUT most of it is, and those items are what add the character and warmth to my wardrobe and decor. It sets me apart, makes the difference and makes it mine (and comfy too)! AND, I DO NOT pay a lot of money for my things! Quite the contrary! New and more expensive are seldom better, and lack the quality and character of what I look for, and want to surround myself with. It really hit home for me when I went into a beautifully decorated home with decor from Hobby Lobby and imitation European decor. It felt shallow and lacked warmth and character, although at first was pleasing to look at. It was decorated with items that were purchased quickly in order to achieve a look. Then I went into another home that was beautifully decorated with authentic, shabby decor hunted for and collected over time, from all over, to make an understated elegant, breathtaking look that was so inviting. It drew me in, and I didn't want to leave! That spoke volumes to me.
THAT is why I have chosen to offer the latter of what I just described, and to specialize in vintage and AUTHENTIC French decor. Anyone can do the look-a-like. Everyone is offering the imitation, and the "french" look! You can get it anywhere. Its all over the internet and in all the stores. What is the "french" look anyway? Maybe we should ask someone from France, or go to France to see for ourselves! If you are not from France, or have not asked a French woman or man, you will be surprised to know that France is not all about crowns, the Eiffel Tower or the fat French chef dressed in white! That is all tourist hooplah! Just like a foreigner who is a tourist in America. They don't know the heart of our country, but only the tourism and somewhat false image the media immerses them in.
France is Old World beauty filled with timeless art, rich colors, architecture, music, composers, antiques, linen, yes authentic "shabby chic" also coined "French Country", romance, wine, fields of sunflowers and lavender, simplicity, character and charm that cannot be duplicated with imitation or knock offs. Like Italy and other places in Europe, its all these things and more that envelope a timeless flavor of life, that is only cheapened and misrepresented by trends, imitations and tourism.
My blog is of course to promote my business and to offer an authentic, real deal product that will add beauty, character and meaning to any space and to the new owner, to be passed on and cherished for many years to come!
For the next several blogs, I will be featuring one type of french decor item in each blog, to include a unique fact about the item and how you can use the item in your home decorating and/or wardrobe!
More is More, when it comes to authenticity and the real deal! Alors ajouter plus à votre vie!
